Feeling home at The Wittenberg Aparthotel
Already in childhood time, we both went often with the family to the Netherlands. For German families it is a great destination because it is not that far away, the beaches are perfect to discover and even if the weather becomes worse, there are so many nice cities around. A memory of our childhood is maybe a remembrance of many other Germans too. You are on vacation in the Netherlands, it is raining all day long and you would actually like to join the warmth at the beach. Then, the parents decide to visit any city around and this was mostly Amsterdam.
Because of that background story, you might realize how familiar we are already with Amsterdam for ages. Exactly this feeling of family and home came back when we had the opportunity to stay at The Wittenberg Aparthotel in Amsterdam. You can come back to the hotel after a long, touristy day at Amsterdam and you feel directly home. The entire metropolis hectic is away and you can end up the day in relaxing, that you are ready for the next day. It is not that typical hotel feeling in The Wittenberg Aparthotel but living their own life in Amsterdam. We really love that!
The peaceful surrounding
The Wittenberg Aparthotel is located in the heart of the green and calm Plantage district. The Plantage district is on the east side of Amsterdam and well known for its nature that you can relax in peace and sedateness. There is a canal on the other side of the street and you can see through some windows of The Wittenberg Aparthotel the impressive Hortus Botanicus. Especially in spring/summer, it is a visit worth because it is one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world.
We also rent bikes from The Wittenberg Aparthotel and discovered thereby the surroundings easily. Because the inner circle of Amsterdam is not that huge, we were 5 min later already in the city centre. Just perfect! One day, when it was super hard raining, we decided to visit the world famous Hermitage of Amsterdam, which is located just a street away and shows great art from the Hermitage in St. Petersburg. Some years ago, we went to the Hermitage in St. Petersburg, therefore it was great to `go back to the roots´ again.
History meats Modern
Enough to go round; let us introduce you to The Wittenberg Aparthotel and the great ancient building with the modern interior inside. The boutique hotel is housed in an eighteen-century heritage building and accommodates 115 apartments. Each of them has its own, Dutch and modern design that you feel directly home. The interior is lovingly chosen and you can find here and there highlights, e.g. colourful cushions or a super soft bedspread. The apartment offers everything you need: a comfortable bed whereof you can have a great view to the courtyard of the heritage building, a bright and modern bathroom, a living quarter to relax on the couch and a spacious kitchen with coffee maker and so on. Thus, we enjoyed breakfast every morning with fresh coffee and omelette whilst we observed the ducks on the canal…
We definitely need to come back in summer when the nature around will be green and when there is the weather to sit outside in the courtyard to enjoy breakfast in the warmth. Maybe we decide to spend some weeks in The Wittenberg Aparthotel then, because it is just perfect for longer stays when you do not want this typical hotel life but when you want that feeling of home and being familiar with the accommodation.
We totally recommend The Wittenberg Aparthotel to everyone who is looking for a second home in a quit neighbourhood of the vivid city of Amsterdam. Thanks for your welcoming! #sponsored
